Taiwan's Octon International Showcases Resilient Satellite Communication at TIE 2025

Orion Cube Ensures Connectivity During Emergencies, Drawing National Media Attention

Taipei, October 17, 2025. Octon International is capturing attention at Taiwan Innotech Expo 2025 with its Resilient Satellite Communication system, designed to maintain secure connectivity even when traditional networks fail.

Featured in the Smart Sustainability Pavilion's Resilience Empowerment Zone, the company's Orion Cube technology has already garnered national television coverage from Taiwan Television (TTV) on the expo's opening day.

Homegrown Digital Resilience

Developed in collaboration with Taiwan's Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA), Pyras Technology, and leading research institutions, the system addresses a critical vulnerability: what happens when disaster strikes and terrestrial networks go down?

"This system breaks free from the limitations of land-based networks," said Dr. Charles Chan, CEO of Octon International. "Whether you're in a disaster zone, at sea, or in space, connectivity remains intact and secure."

The platform integrates low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite connections, military-grade encryption, and distributed architecture to ensure uninterrupted communication during earthquakes, typhoons, cyberattacks, or infrastructure failures.

Three-Tier Solution

The Orion Cube serves multiple scenarios:

  • Daily Operations: AI-powered backend data management across all platforms

  • Emergency Response: Automatic satellite backup when terrestrial networks fail, keeping rescue teams and critical services connected

  • Remote Operations: Low-latency communication for offshore wind farms, maritime missions, and other challenging environments

National Priority

Deputy Director-General Chen Hui-Min of MODA, who visited the Octon booth during the opening ceremony, emphasized the government's commitment to digital sovereignty and resilient infrastructure.

"Taiwan is proving we have the talent, infrastructure, and coordination needed to build secure, scalable communication systems for the future," Chen said.

The initiative aligns with Taiwan's upcoming Advanced Satellite Diverse Services Application Industrial Plan, launching in 2026, which will focus on maritime, agriculture, and other critical sectors.

Public-Private Success

The Resilient Satellite Communication system exemplifies Taiwan's public-private collaboration model. Minister Lin Yi-ching, MODA Director-General Lin Chun-hsiu, and other senior officials attended the expo opening, commending the technical teams' innovative achievements.

As extreme weather and cyber threats intensify globally, Taiwan's approach may serve as a blueprint for other nations seeking to safeguard digital infrastructure through domestic innovation.

Visit the Expo

The Orion Cube demonstration continues through October 18 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, Resilience Empowerment Zone. Admission is free.

Hours: Oct 17 (9:30 AM-5:30 PM), Oct 18 (9:30 AM-4:30 PM)
